DescriptionTiglylglycine belongs to the class of organic compounds known as n-acyl-alpha amino acids. N-acyl-alpha amino acids are compounds containing an alpha amino acid which bears an acyl group at its terminal nitrogen atom. Tiglylglycine is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Tiglylglycine is a potentially toxic compound. Tiglylglycine, with regard to humans, has been found to be associated with several diseases such as 2-methyl-3-hydroxybutyryl-coa dehydrogenase deficiency and ketosis; tiglylglycine has also been linked to several inborn metabolic disorders including beta-ketothiolase deficiency and propionic acidemia.
