Cholesterols and derivatives are compounds containing a 3-hydroxylated cholestane core. Thus, 4a-methylzymosterol is considered to be a sterol lipid molecule. 4a-Methylzymosterol is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
