Metabolite Identification
Common NameCoproporphyrinogen III
DescriptionCoproporphyrinogen iii III, also known as coproporphyrinogen III III, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as porphyrins. Porphyrins are compounds containing a fundamental skeleton of four pyrrole nuclei united through the alpha-positions by four methine groups to form a macrocyclic structure. Coproporphyrinogen iii III is possibly soluble (in water) and a weakly acidic compound (based on its pKa). Coproporphyrinogen iii III exists in all living species, ranging from bacteria to humans. In cattle, coproporphyrinogen III iii is involved in the metabolic pathway called the porphyrin metabolism pathway. Coproporphyrinogen iii III is a potentially toxic compound.
