DescriptionGlycerol 2-phosphate, also known as beta-glycerophosphate, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as glycerophosphates. Glycerophosphates are compounds containing a glycerol linked to a phosphate group. Glycerol 2-phosphate is possibly soluble (in water) and an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Glycerol 2-phosphate exists in all living species, ranging from bacteria to humans.
