Metabolite Identification
Common Name4,8-Dimethylnonanoyl-CoA
Description4,8-Dimethylnonanoyl-CoA, also known as 4,8-dimethylnonanoyl-coa, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 2,3,4-saturated fatty acyl coas. These are acyl-CoAs carrying a 2,3,4-saturated fatty acyl chain. 4,8-Dimethylnonanoyl-CoA is possibly soluble (in water) and a strong basic compound (based on its pKa). 4,8-Dimethylnonanoyl-CoA and L-carnitine can be converted into 4,8 dimethylnonanoyl carnitine through its interaction with the enzyme carnitine O-palmitoyltransferase 2, mitochondrial. In cattle, 4,8-dimethylnonanoyl-CoA is involved in the metabolic pathway called the oxidation OF branched-chain fatty acids pathway.
