Metabolite Identification |
---|
Common Name | Docosapentaenoic acid |
---|
Description | Docosapentaenoic acid, also known as docosapentaenoate, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as very long-chain fatty acids. These are fatty acids with an aliphatic tail that contains at least 22 carbon atoms. Docosapentaenoic acid is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. In cattle, docosapentaenoic acid is involved in the metabolic pathway called the Alpha linolenic Acid and linoleic Acid metabolism pathway. |
